Amount to be bestowed increased to $10,000
Mount Prospect, IL, April 19, 2022 – High school seniors seeking financial support to attend college still have a short window of opportunity to apply for a scholarship from the Mount Prospect Lions Club. This year, the Lions Club will be awarding a total of $10,000 to four deserving local high school graduates as part of its annual scholarship program, an increase of $2,500 over the previous year.

may be found at: https://mplions.org/scholarship/. This is the second year in a row the Mount Prospect Lions Club has increased its pool of available scholarship dollars, a total of $4,000 more since 2020.
In existence since 1993, the Lions Club’s scholarship program bestows: The George Gattas Scholarship, in memory of this past president of the Mount Prospect Lions Club, former athletic director and educator at Prospect High School; The Tim Murphy Scholarship, past president and long-time chairman of the Scholarship Committee; and the Mount Prospect Lions Scholarship, in honor of all members who have passed away.
The final selection of recipients will be determined by a committee of Lions Club officers and awarded based on the following eligibility requirements: A resident of Mount Prospect, a current graduating high school senior, shown evidence of academic achievement, accepted to an accredited institution, and exhibited participation in community service or school activities.

The Lions Club has been blessed by loyal support from our community and we are paying it forward by providing even more funds to help graduates defray the costs of college,” said Rockne Bork, Scholarships Committee Chairman. “Recipients will be honored on stage during our 4th of July Festival where our members and the community will be able to extend their sincere congratulations.”
